Mundial de Tango
I received the following very interesting link, containing photos and videos from the Tango World Championship which ended this past weekend (Aug 26/27, 2006). You can find the performances of the two winning couples (in the categories of Salon and Stage).www.cronicasmoviles.com.ar
We would like to share with you videos and photos taken last August 27th during the IV Worldwide Tango Championship finals in Argentina. We recorded the 5 finalist couples performances selected by the judges in second round and interviews of the winners. Andres Amarilla & Geraldine Rojas
In 1993, when Andres and Geraldine were both teenagers (he 17, she 13), they performed together for this homage to Petroleo. At the end of the clip you see Petroleo at the main table when they walk up to pay their respects. You can see Mingo Pugliese standing behind Petroleo. At the very beginning of the clip you can see the young boy Pablo Pugliese in a chair with a video camera.

About this video, Meredith wrote (on tango-l):
When Andres Amarilla was 17, he partnered with Geraldine Rojas (then age 13) for a year. Together, they performed over 20 times at Buenos Aires milongas, including Sunderland, Akarence, and Sin Rumbo.
After a lot of searching, we were finally able to locate a video of one of Andres and Geraldine's performances. This one was given in October 1993 at the milonga Glorias Argentinas as an homage to the legendary Petroleo. You can see Petroleo at the end of the video, standing behind the table in the center of the frame.
